Hi Everone,
I've grown tired of my 29 gallon scape and need something new! I want to do a scape with "interesting" rocks - Iwagumi style I guess - I didn't really know what "iwagumi" meant until I found this thread...http://www.aquaticplantcentral.com/forumapc/aquascaping/27567-definition-iwagumi.html
Interesting!

I'm going to go rock hunting some time this week. Native rocks here in Iowa are round and boring! I want something with some character, and something I havn't spent my glory days picking out of the corn field and throwing into a "rock" pile. My first stop will be a lanscape supply store in the big city, Des Moines....LOL. The looks of this gallery have me thinking I can find something to work. http://www.rhinomaterials.com/photo_gallery/index.shtml

I've been looking at others tanks and trying to get ideas. It looks like the main plants used are...HC, glosso, hairgrass, riccia, blyxa, moss....what are some other good choices? Is it best to stick with smaller leaved plants? I'm trying to decide if I could use some of my Low Grow Hygrophila.

I'm not really thrilled about the 29 gallon tank size, but it's going to have to due for now. Some day I want a cube.

This likely won't be scaped for a week or two so be patient. Maybe some can post some pics or links of their iwagumi tanks for ideas and inspiration:)

What are some common aquarium rock types? I've seen/heard of Seiryu, Shoe, and Basalt. The aquarium shop I had had lace rock and pagoda stone that looked cool. Is there any good sites with pictures or descriptions of these rocks?

Any midwesterners out there had any luck finding good rocks? I still need to go to the landscape supply place...
