Alright so I'm getting a 20 Watt Coralife mini bulb, but I need to screw it in something. I should be able to screw it in any type of regular lamp correct?

Here's the thing, I want it to screw into a pendant type lamp where I can hang up, but the light is usually too long. Would I need a splashguard type deal to protect the light bulb from water? or would I not need one, like a piece of acrylic to protect my light bulb. See if I don't need one, then I can keep going with the pendant idea, but if I do, I face a dilemma. In order to put a splash guard, the light bulb must be inside the lamp itself, so the lamp would have to have a horizontal screw in, but those are hard to come by. So if you skimmed over the above, here's all you basically need to read, because it's the main question, and for your convenience, do I need a splash guard (piece of acrylic) to seperate the water to the light bulb, so it doesn't damage it

This will go over a 10"x10"x10" cube

It depends on how high above the water your pendant is, I personally use between 5 and 8 screw in lamps over my 34 gallon and they sit about 3-4 inches over the water with no splash guard, I havent had any problems at all.

You can see my light fixture by clicking the tank in my signature - it will take you to my journal.

I know lots of others here like to take out the splash guards that come with their toods / fixtures just so they don't have to clean them as often.

as long as you don't have a powerhead spraying water up and out of the tank, or a giant fish that likes to jump a lot, you will be just fine hanging the fixture over the tank without a splash guard. just be sure the fixture itself is well secured and can't fall into the water.
Alright thanks a lot
