I thought I was buying cherries, but I got 4 orange coloured shrimp. Over time one of the 4 orange coloured shrimp started to develop dark stripes.

I figured perhaps a bee. Someone told me a bee. So she's been a bee

Well as time went on, the stripes got darker and darker. Tonight when I looked in the tank, her eyes practially glowed orange. She's fantastically dark. I took her out and put her in a container to get some pics. As seen below.

So what the hell is she? I hope she stays that way.

Fascinating!

I know "Ninja" shrimp (Caridina serrata group) can display that range of color changes, but the only pics I've ever seen in Ninjas shows them with white stripes, not black. So I suspect that's not correct.

Hmmm....I'm curious! Hopefully someone with more expertise can come along and provide an answer.

the change was fairly gradual over about 2 or 3 months. I think the shrimp were young at the time of purchase, or perhaps a bit immature as they were about the size of cherries but they have grown to be a half an in longer give or take.
