At this point, try reading up on some art and design books from the local library. Visit your local flower and Japanese gardens to get ideas. Look at the plethora of sites, including this one, which have extensive aquascape galleries.
Once you start forming a direction on the path you want your aquascape to take, it will be much better for us to give constructive suggestions.
