One of my penpals in Japan is Mr. Yam of Aquaforest - a store in Tokyo's Shinjuku district. He told me the store recently ran an aquascaping contest and the entries are posted here:

Definitely a nice store to visit if you're ever in Tokyo - no discus, but plenty of catfish (corys and pl*cos), lots of small fish (tetras, etc...), several varieties of shrimp, and TONS of aquarium plants plus a whole bunch of those pricey Amano goods!
