Anytime, anything does not work easily, you are probably doing something wrong. Not always but usually.
With any o-ring or gasket of any type overtightening is a problem cause. Softly and gently is the byword. I always loved Rex Griggs' advice about tightening CO2 fittings, "now is the time to be manly' for reefing down on the big nut to fasten a bottle of gas to a Regulator. Normally, trying to prove how strong you are is not wise when tightening fittings. Most things are not designed that way so remember softly and gently at first.
