i have been useing test strips in my tanks,but they show the kh and gh in 0-300.what is the conversion into the smaller numbers i see in the forums.

Test strips are notoriously inaccurate and are only giving for an idea of the range. Most posts here that list KH or GH in small #'s are posted in German Degrees. The proper notation would be dKH and dGH.

As gnatster says, test strips are only good for a quick checks and even then I would have a hard time trusting them (I have a hard enough time trusting liquid reagent kits!).

As to conversion, divide ppm by 17.9 to get degrees...

odd enough thank you for answering my question.other options are great and i will take them .but at this time i just wanted an answer.
