thanks god i made it to this moment , my h.c has covered the whole foreground - now my questions are this:
1. how to trim it?
2. when to trim is ? let it make another layer or now?
here are some pics from this plant
When it grows too thick, I just "mow" it all down. It will re-grow a nice top again in no time. You can do this a few times before the underside gets too blaaaaah. At this time, I would remove the whole carpet, cut out plugs and replant.
can I ask about your water parameters? How did you get the HC and blxya to grow so well? What substrate and lighting do you have them in? I have some H C but its dying and floating up. Any advice would be great. Thanks
If you do decide to trim the HC I'd love to either trade or buy some from you. It's something I've been wanting to try out for a while. Drop me a PM if you're interested
hi guys, im from israel so it would b difficult to give u some trimmings. u can try and find this plant at aquabid.
the water parameters are : no3 25-35
po4 - 0.6-1.0
ph - 6.1-6.3
kh - 5
lighting - 200w -> 150w 5200k mh + 50w t5 6500k+3000k
substarte - baselet+quartz+ADA aquasoil (only 4-6 pounds)
ferts - my own mixing
Something I've done with mine to get a gift bunch for people is just pluck out strands. The mass stays put and you can't tell that you've yanked any out. I do this before the 'mow' when I knock it back to within a half inch of the substrate.
