I have two natural planted aquariums. A forty gallon and a thirty gallon. I have some livebearers in both. They live bearers in the forty have stopped producing offspring and the ones in the thirty never did. I have had some wasting and a few deaths. I've noticed the wasting in the LFS where I purchased the fish. Naturally I suspect mycobacterium. I purchased two Aquatop hang on back UV filters hoping this would rid my tanks of this problem. Now I read that they do not have the power or capacity to effectively combat the bacteria, and are merely for destroying green water. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm sad that I just spent the money on it, and disappointed at my lack of research. Is there any hope for my fish with these filters?
