Water softner??

I just installed a Water softening system in my house. I am not using sodium chloride, I am using potassium chloride to soften the water. Is this safe to use in my tanks???

I use potassium chloride in my water softener; my plants didn't like it at all. On the other hand, I've heard of other people using water softened with KCl in their planted tanks and having great success with it. You could certainly give it a try, but be prepared to switch back to unsoftened tap water if your plants don't respond well.
