Unfortunately it Potassium Nitrate is a controlled substance here, apparently because it is an ingredient in making explosives. I can get Potassium Sulfate, Mono Potassium Phosphate and Magnesium Sulfate locally.

Is there an alternative substance i can source nitrate from, which is readily available at chemical shops?

Thank you

not sure what it is, but you might look for Ca(NO3)2.4(H2O)

i believe it's called NITROCALCITE

in a 100 liter tank, 1 gram yeilds 7.96ppm NO3 and 1.7ppm ca.

it's not very good unless your water needs calcium added.

there is also seachem's flurish nitrogen. maybe you could have it shipped?
