Ok this past saturday I dosed my 20h with kents pro plant and freshwater plant formula and the next day there was a film across the surface of my tank, is this common when one doses ferts? The bottles give instructions for dosing a 30 gallon tank 1 tsp, since my tanks 20 I dosed less then that.

Do you have CO2 of some sort. When CO2 is introduced into the tank, an oily film usually appears. What I do is just use a paper towel to soak it up when I have the desire to do so.
