It's happening to me right now. I received a new PM in which I read and replied. However, it refuses to mark the PM as read.

I even tried the options at the bottom to "mark as read" but that won't work. I tried to somehow trigger it to reset whatever was wrong by selecting all of my PMs and selecting the option "mark as unread." All of my PMs were then marked as unread. So when I tried to reverse it by selecting all of the PMs again and selecting "mark as read" all of my PMs came up as read EXCEPT this one, new PM.

I tried to move the PM to a folder, but that didn't work either. It asked me to create a folder name. I did and hit save. It displayed the same screen again without any confirmation that anything was saved and no reference to the folder I just made.

I went back to the list of PMs and tried to move the message to the folder, but I was again sent to the page to create new folders; however, the folder I had just created was already listed. But I still cannot move this PM.

It's like it's frozen as is. And every page I go to on the site gives me the "new PM" popup.

'this is really messed up.

I just noticed that the page I was on said 0 PMs unread. So I thought, great! And I checked my PM listings, and sure enough, it was no longer bold.

So I came back to this thread to report it, but now the PM is showing up as unread again!

Weird.

This isn't funny anymore. I tried to deselect the option, "Show New Private Message Notification Pop-up" but it won't save. I hit the save button, but I immediately get another popup about the PM. I deselected it a second time and made sure I hit the save button, which I did, and the popup came up again. I can't get rid of it.

No need to apologize! I used to be a programmer so I wanted to give a clear description of what was happening since that can frequently help a tech team narrow down a problem so it can be fixed more quickly.

Things seem to be working well now. :)

I worked for IBM as an intern writing and maintaining database applications, diagnosing and fixing software and hardware problems, writing programming and user manuals and some hardware assistance. Then IBM abandoned their intern program.

About that same time, my professor was moving to teach at MIT so he asked me to take over his clients. A number of people with small businesses also asked me to work on their systems. So I took out a DBA and worked as a private consultant, doing pretty much the same thing I did at IBM.

This was a veeeeeeeery long time ago. However, my natural personality for being detailed just comes naturally to my credit and detriment. :)
