Hi,

I've grown this plant emersed for about two years, it started as a little bucket and now ithas propagated a lot. I would like to now if anyone knows what it is and if it can be grown submersed.

Very pretty plant.

By emersed in a bucket do you mean dryish soil, or soil with the water level above the soil but not above the leaves?

It looks like a beautiful succulent that probably likes drier conditions. My guess is it won't grow submerged , but in biotoping you always try it anyway. That's how you discover new aquarium plants. Try a little piece in your tank anyway.

I've already put a branch of it in my tank... I'll have to wait. BTW, can it have a negative impact on the tank other than rotting if it does not grow in there?

It is growing emersed, no water above the soil.

Hi,

Your plant is a Kalanchoe, probably Kalanchoe scapigera.

Kalanchoes are a large family of succulents native to Africa and the Mid East.

as spituch has guessed they like dry conditions.
If you leave it in your tank it is most likely to rot.

And to answer your second question it is not good to have rotting plant material in your tank, Lots of bad bacteria.

Actually its a succulent not a cactus...

All cactus are succulents, but not all succulents are cactus.

Cactus are plants of the "New World" the Americas.

Kananchoes are from Africa, part of the "Old World."

Finally you guys are talking about something I know about. LOL
