Hi,

I have a 125 gal that I am about to set up with mainly plants. I have been out of the hobby a few years and I need a a source where I can order my plants online. Who has the best deals for the best price? Will need a lot of plants for a tank of this size. I appreciate any and all replies. I am also new to this forum and hope to learn alot !!

aquabid.com (like e-bay for plants)
here (in the buy/sell forum)
aquariumplants.com
freshwateraquariumplants.com
aquabotanic.com

Oh, I'm sure I'm forgetting someone. Don't sue me!

I second the recommendation for the buy/sell forum here. I've found some very good deals and gotten some unusual species you probably couldn't find anywhere else.

Do not buy from azgarden.com. He charged you a lot of "shipping and handing" and the plants were not good at all. I did get a replacement from him, but they were as bad as first shipment. I had wasted over two hundred dollars on this website. Aquariumplant.com is a good company.

If you need a bulk order I'd contact Mark over at Anubias Design
[ http://www.anubiasdesign.com ] but his yahoo group:
[ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/anubiasdesign ] is where all
the traffic is at.

He's a direct importer of fish and plants so e-mail him your list
and I'm sure he can fill it and his quality is the best I've ever
seen. He's the one person I always trust and his ability to get
damn near anything depending on the time of year is amazing.

He might not get back to you right away as he's also the
IBC Pres so if you don't here back in a few days e-mail him again.

I'd be willing to put together a rather large package for you at what would be far less than retail prices. I do a major trim of my 180g every month or so. The quantity of plants removed would fit into a typical size USPS Priority box, but just barely. Usually the stuff just gets tossed into the trash.

Well you might start by looking at the sponsors of this forum... just a novel idea! ;)

Before I would send you tank full of plants, I would ask you several questions... like

what is your experience growing plants? Would you consider yourself a beginer, intermediate, or advanced?

Are you putting together a high tech set up or low tech?

What type of light set up do you have?

Are you injecting C02?

What is your goal with this plant tank?

You can get a whole tank full of plants for free, but it will be a wasted effort if they all die on you within a month or two because they are not the right plants for your particular set up and knowledge level.

I'd have to agree with Robert. I'd go with a sponsor first but go with someone who can also help you find the right plants for your tank. Robert is pretty good at that.
