Hi Mike,
I purchased a used Incandescent light strip and used 2 Spiral CFLs for a 20 Long. This works well, except you have to bend the reflector to fit the CFL bulb. Another option is to get the candelabra style bulbs, but that doesn't give you the wattage. One more option would be to buy higher wattage CFLs with mogul base and get an adapter to fit the standard incandescent bulb.
For another tank, I have 2 clip-on incandescent holders with CFLs, which works well also.
Probably not the solution to reuse your strip, but it may work if you can get 2 incandescent or mogul bases and hook it up.
Hope this helps.
regards,
Ravi
