[Wet Thumb Forum]-Adding low dose of NaCl to a plant tank

Besides the regular ferts that are recommended, is there any sense in adding a very low dose of NaCl to plant tanks? As I understand it NaCl is a component of every living cell and although it is toxic to plants at high concentrations, would not a certain amount of NaCl be necessary for plant growth?

OK since there are nop replies I will add what I have found out on the internet about NaCl and terrestrial plants. Anyway I am nowhere near a botanist but this is what I found.

1. NaCl was added to certain agricultural crops in the past to control disease, and in some cases it was found to increase yield.

2. Use of NaCl in agriculture dropped off after chemical companies began marketing their pesticides to farmers.

3. At higher doses the NaCl was toxic to plants but at lower doses it increased plant growth in some cases.

Anyway I will do an experiment with adding a scant amount of NaCl with my weekly macro dosing and see what happens.

I think will not help.

I used to add salt in my acuarium to prevent disease, during 20 years, but the new literature says is not good for planted acuarium, I have two years not using it, and I havent missed it.

Saludos...
